The way you make me feel - Michael Jackson 1987
Pretty Ricky - Grind on me 2006
After listening to a variety of music from the 80's (such as 'John Lennon - Stand by me' and 'Michael Jackson - The way you make me feel'), i noticed how song lyrics have changed significantly over time. In the late 90's women had more respect and were treated as 'goddesses or stars' through lyrics. They talk about how a girl is so special and how they need a girl to just 'stand by them'
Standing in stark contrast are the lyrics of more modern songs such as 'I want to fuck you - Akon' and 'Gring on me - Pretty Ricky.' The lyrics are extremely derogative and present a voyeuristic view of women - They tend to represents women as a sex object.
